Dr. Pirrallo’s research focuses on advancing out-of-hospital resuscitation techniques and ways to improve Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system effectiveness. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles, two textbooks on quality management in EMS and serves on the Editorial Board of the peer-reviewed journal “Prehospital Emergency Care.”
As an internationally invited speaker on multiple topics in EMS, he has provided consultation to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization. He is serving his fourth term as a board member of the National Association of EMS Physicians and has served on the Board of Directors of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the State of Wisconsin EMS Physician Advisory Committee.
As a Professor of Emergency Medicine with tenure at the Medical College of Wisconsin Emergency Medicine Residency Training program, Dr. Pirrallo teaches students and provides emergency patient care at the Level 1 Trauma Center, Froedtert Hospital.
