Dr. Charles Harkins was in the private practice of otolaryngology in Milwaukee for 14 years prior to joining the full-time faculty at the Medical College in 2002. During that time, he was actively involved in the education of residents and students as a member of the MCW clinical faculty. He also served as the ear, nose, and throat consultant for the Southern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled for eight of those years. He is board-certified in Otolaryngology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Harkins provides specialized care for the entire family, from infants to senior citizens, over the full spectrum of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery. He has developed a very busy pediatric practice, thus allowing him to develop relationships with the entire family. He enjoys the interaction with patients that leads to a mutual understanding of the disorders they have and the ways available to treat them. Treatment decisions are based on this mutual understanding.

Patients are seen at three locations: Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Clinics at New Berlin, Medical College of Wisconsin Clinics at Greenfield, and Froedtert Hospital Otolaryngology Clinics. He specializes in pediatric and adult general otolaryngology. He sees patients with a wide variety of disorders including otitis media and externa, sinus and allergies problems affecting the nose, tonsil and adenoid issues, general throat complaints, salivary gland diseases, and anterior neck problems from lymphadenopathy to masses, both congenital and acquired, as well as other general head and neck problems.
